I ended up going to the Haywood Gallery to see Louise bourgeoise the woven child exhibition. I’ve seen this exhibition before at Moma in New York back in 2017. Her works are based on the themes of identity and sexuality and memory which are central to her long and storied career it’s almost a final chapter of her work. She creates installations and paintings that looked into eternity and life which was interesting as it was another approach to what I was looking into. However I did feel that this didn’t tie in with my work as much as I wanted it to, it was diverging away rather than linking with my research which was a shame because I wanted to add another sort of inspiration into my work to develop it further but then again I do feel that the amount of research I’ve done is quite complicated and there’s a lot going on that I need to balance out. One of her main and most famous work she’s created is the installation of the spider which is a 15 feet sculpture casted in bronze that recipe of a steel cage. She dedicated that installation particularly to her mother and partly to herself as it represented cleverness industry and a nurse and protective less as the spider is gigantic almost the size of the room she also dedicated it to her mother and specifically chose to do a spider as spiders are known to be weavers and she wanted to pay tribute to her work as a weaver and tapestry restorer and represented that through the cleverness that spiders hold. Personally I think this is quite amazing and it’s one of my favourite watch that I saw that day because for me spiders are known to be quite discomforting and liked by many people are there going to be creepy crawlers. But she changes that idea to create a more beautiful side of spiders which is underrated and that’s the idea of them weaving and creating webs which I thought was quite beautiful and at self.
